As the first provider on the market, the photo lab allcop has developed a photobook certified by the RAL with the Blue Angel environmental label. This involved comprehensive testing, requiring stringent evidence of the environmental compatibility of the materials, as well as the production and packaging processes the company said.
For a year now, dm has been offering its customers the sustainably designed Paradies-Fotobuch nature A4 Portrait by allcop. Compared to a conventional A4 Portrait photobook in digital print, it saves 42% CO2e emissions (the Product Carbon Footprint was determined in cooperation with myclimate Germany), the company said. The two new formats of the Paradies-Fotobuch nature are also printed on 100% Blue Angel-certified recycled paper and produced with electricity from 100% renewable energy sources. By avoiding lamination on the cover, customers can even completely recycle these products with waste paper. The printing process used is ideally suited for de-inking in the recycling process, allowing the ink to be removed from the paper and the fibers to be reused. Additional plastic wrapping is also avoided in shipping. dm customers receive the Paradies-Fotobuch nature well-protected in FSC®-certified shipping packaging.
“We observe that people are increasingly looking for sustainable alternatives in various aspects of their lives,” said Lena Ehinger, category manager, dm-drogerie markt. “The Blue Angel is a reliable environmental label and helps our customers find these more sustainable product alternatives. Together with allcop, we now demonstrate that photo products can also be comprehensively sustainable.” The relevance of this topic is underscored by the EU consumer protection regulations for greater transparency that came into force in March.
